A CEO comments on engaging Outer Banks Personal Chef for personal and corporate meals...

I'm happy to comment on Lynn Flowers and Outer Banks Personal Chef.  We've used Lynn's services for a large number of events at our beach house and have developed a strong appreciation for her talents as a chef and her personable approach.

As background, Lynn has worked for us in a number of ways:

  • On weeklong assignment when we've had personal and corporate guests
  • At our beach house (breakfast, lunch and dinners for 10-15 people) personal friends and business acquaintances
  • On weeklong assignments when we've had corporate retreats at our beach house, usually using 3 other houses for the overflow (3 meals for up to 30 individuals per meal)
  • For a personal, sit down dinner with small groups (4 to 20 people)
  • As a Personal chef for my wife and I on her 50th birthday.

For the larger groups, we've usually asked Lynn to serve buffet style. It's given her the flexibility to have a couple of dishes so that folks of various tastes (or with various issues) can have a selection.

About a personal favorite, I have to say that we have never had a meal that we didn't enjoy and which we wouldn't repeat.  Lynn's desserts are outstanding (my personal opinion) and some of them are just outrageous.  We've left the meal planning to Lynn in every case.  That's unusual and we've enjoyed her creativity and variety in dishes. It's just like sitting at the chef's table at one of our favorite restaurants.

Another index is that my staff (who travel a great deal and eat in many fine restaurants) always rank her as their first choice on something they want to repeat at the next corporate retreat.

Service has always been extraordinary, whether sit down or buffet. Lynn 's personality is also a major factor.  She can be unobtrusive or talkative, depending on the client and crowd.  Several friends and members of my staff have sort of crowded around during the course of a retreat to see how she makes something.  Sort of an impromptu cooking lesson. And she smiles through the whole thing.

We've also had guests (I'm sorry to say) who are a pain in the neck. They've been demanding, inappropriate, unappreciative, and sometimes rude. This doesn't happen often and it has happened. In all of those cases, Lynn has been calm, centered, at ease and accommodating...a good model for the rest of us.

We heard of Lynn when we were talking to some of the restaurant owners and beach connected people during a crisis. We had several retreats at our beach house and flew a personal chef in from New Mexico or Tennessee.  In this case, our out of town chef had been unable to come for an important retreat and we were in trouble.  Several people who we know well, recommended her and we've used her ever since.

We'd add that Lynn adds a little extra dash of good spirit to each of our occasions.  She's good hearted, happily married, warm and interesting and also a knock-out chef.  We are obviously pleased with her work and couldn't give her a higher recommendation.

Warmest regards,

A note from 5 California women who enjoyed their recent Outer Banks adventure...

Lynn,

I can't tell you again, how happy we were with your cuisine last week.  You made our trip and we just have talked and talked about how great you were to us.  Thank you so much.  You are very talented.

If you have a chance we would love recipes or tips (I know you don't use recipes for a lot of things...) for the following food:

oatmeal chocolate chip cookies
meatball/sausage and sauce

I will share with all the girls from our trip.  Thank you again so much.

Where do I begin to praise the gifts that the Gods have blessed Lynn with!   Not only is she a creative, loving and amazing chef....she is a ray of warm sunshine!  Each day as she would come into the house to prepare a meal for us, we all felt this sense of peace and comfort.

Lynn's cooking and attention to detail on EVERYTHING is a lasting memory for me.  We all agreed, we felt like our husbands and children sometimes feel....to be served a lovely, delicious and beautiful meal.

The table was set and candles burning....Lynn served us each dish in such a professional, yet personal way (all the herbs & flowers were from her garden). As we relaxed and enjoyed the evening, she somehow quietly had the kitchen cleaned, and only the smells of the yummy dinner & dessert lingered!

The five of us are trying to figure out how we can move Lynn to California. This girls trip to the Outer Banks of NC was made complete and memorable by Lynns beautiful spirit and incredible gift of cooking!
